#historic house

A Grade II-listed Georgian house transformed by American artist Dennis Severs, who lived here from 1979 until 1999. Across ten rooms, candlelight, smells, sounds, unmade beds and half-finished meals conjure the fictional Jervis family of Huguenot silk weavers—as though its occupants have just slipped away. It is a theatrical still-life drama rather than a conventional period-house reconstruction.

A remarkably preserved historic merchant house in Hội An’s old town, reflecting the city’s trading history through a blend of Vietnamese, Chinese and Japanese architectural influences. The timber structure, interior courtyard, carved details and flood marks make the house feel like a living record of the port rather than a static museum.
