569 Kanei-cho Gojyozaka, Higashiyama-ku, Kyoto, Japan
The preserved home and workshop of potter Kawai Kanjiro, bringing together his ceramics, furniture and domestic environment with the Mingei idea of beauty in everyday craft.
Set within the former Geffrye almshouses on Kingsland Road, the Museum of the Home explores how people have made, used and understood domestic space. Its Rooms Through Time trace four centuries of home life through furnished interiors, while the Home Galleries, period gardens and restored Almshouse 14 connect furniture and objects to changing rituals, technologies and social histories.
