Osteria da Fortunata’s Corso del Rinascimento 17 location near Piazza Navona, part of a Roman osteria tradition the family traces to 1921. The house emphasizes handmade pasta, classic Roman recipes passed through generations, fresh and seasonal ingredients, 100% Italian organic stone-ground flours and extra-virgin olive oil from its Umbrian organic mill. Saved as a separate location to try.

A family-run Roman restaurant at Via del Pantheon 55, founded by Fortunato Baldassarri in 1975 on the site of an older Roman hostelry with a gastronomic history reaching back to the 18th century. Its kitchen balances Roman and broader Italian tradition with house-made bread, desserts and egg pasta, seasonal ingredients, fresh fish from Anzio and a substantial wine cellar; this is the Pantheon restaurant from my May 2024 dinner.

A traditional restaurant at Via delle Fratte di Trastevere 49/50, near Santa Maria in Trastevere. The restaurant describes its cooking as inspired by traditional Roman dishes and Roman-style pizza, while the interior’s commissioned trompe-l’oeil murals evoke scenes of late-18th-century Rome—a distinctive piece of the dining record from my May 2024 stay.

A Roman trattoria at Piazza di San Calisto 7/A in Trastevere, next door to Tonnarello. Its menu is firmly rooted in Roman comfort food—tonnarelli cacio e pepe, carbonara and amatriciana alongside saltimbocca, coda alla vaccinara, abbacchio and its own tiramisu espresso—making it a natural comparison stop with the neighbouring favourite.

A busy Trastevere restaurant centred on generous portions of classic Roman cooking, particularly fresh pasta and the city’s traditional sauces. Its Piazza di San Calisto setting puts it at the heart of the neighbourhood’s restaurant and evening scene.
